The stupid whip antenna is just another instance of Ford being cheap. My 2010 GTI had a little shark fin and got the best radio reception out of any car I've ever driven. Whips are old tech and don't need to exist anymore.
When I picked up my RS I swapped the whip for a stubby in a gas station parking lot on the drive home.

Shark fins look great on sedans. Whip style antennas are still used on lots of cars made today. I think it might be hard to find a mounting point for a shark fin on the '21. I actually like the look of the whip antenna and I think the placement is cool. As mentioned, a shorter version is an option.

Yup, my 2014 F-150 had the exact same antenna. Anytime I ran it through a car wash, the attendant would unscrew it for me. Then I'd have to screw it back in afterwards. A couple times the attendant just left it, and it didn't affect anything though, it's really flexible.
I can attest to that lol. Our 2017 F-150 work truck's antenna was definitely slapped against a parking garage ceiling every 10 feet for six floors. Still works, no damage.

Sheesh, doesn’t almost every vehicle integrate the antenna into the glass now? This will be my first vehicle in 20 years with an antenna. :(
no rear glass to put it in

I see today is antenna day
Yes, aka first world problem day. Antenna length is related to the wavelength of the signal that your want to receive. I have not off-roaded but I am guessing that veterans are used to it.

Am I the only one that absolutely loves the huge old school antenna? Yes it's huge, yes it flaps in the wind, yes it scrapes my garage every time I park.....but I absolutely love it. It feels so retro and rugged. Maybe it's just nostalgia for me, but then again so is my Bronco.

Without that long old school antenna how are you gonna tune in XERF or KOMA after dark?

maybe I'm a little too old school?

if i try and go under something and it hits lol i dont go under !
HA, I do the same. I even thought about getting a taller one as then I flip my top up, those little tabs stick up and hit the warning bar at my work's garage.
