Some posters have so far gone pretty easy on FORD blaming delays on issues beyond their control. Others said that it was unreasonable to hold FORD management responsible for the MIC top disaster. But after the recent news of the total shut down on hard top shipments and already assembled vehicles sitting in the stock yards being sent back to manufacturing - as someone reported - I think FORD deserves whatever criticism or ridicule comes their way. Is there anyone who questions that the BRONCO launch has been anything but a complete disaster?

Yes there is some people that don't blame Ford for various reasons. For business relationships they don't want to be slapped in the hand and be told bad boy by the big Daddy.

Covid caused a lot of issues out of Fords control.

Ford OWNS the mic issues. Their design, they picked Webasto.

Apparently the design is complete crap. Is it webasto’s fault that following the specs leads to a substandard product?

Should Ford take heat? Hell yes!

It now sounds like the nail in the MIC top coffin and root cause of the full recall of produced tops was due to faulty *specification and design*, not supply chain and staffing issues.

Did Ford design the top and Webaso simply bid on production? Did Webaso design the top to Ford specs?

Let's not forget that Webaso also took a huge hit on this debacle, and I suspect that there have been some *very* heated meetings between Ford and Webaso with plenty of finger pointing, likely followed with some upcoming litigation. Someone is eating a very big bill for the production of the defective tops, not to mention damage to reputation and a MIC top factory that is now essentially idled.

But at the same time covid fucked the building of the plant up and threw a large wrench in the timelines, which then devolved in to a rushed botch launch.

Ford should be taking the heat absolultely. They are the captain of the ship.

Not sure about the post stating they need to replace every motor with eletric motors.

Fair enough, but someone at Ford still approved defective tops to ship.

Has Ford Stock had any significant change since yesterday's announcement?

I'll give Ford the benefit of doubt about the MIC issues - but constraint issues with Sasquatch, 2.7 liter engine, towing package, etc are ALL on Ford management in not ensuring the pipeline was sufficient to meet demand.

There is a lot that can be blamed, but they also did a lot of things well.

But one thing for sure is they must improve their reservation-based ordering process. It makes almost everybody angry/dissatisfied to see the randomness and outright unfairness (priority orders) in what was expected by most to be fulfillment based on queue order. Currently there are folks angry that they have a VIN and folks angry that they don't have a VIN. Just a no-win situation for Ford currently.
