We finally got a little bit of the white stuff up above 4,000ft so we took a quick scouting trip to see what's what. The summit of Darland Mountain is about 6,900ft and the drifts were anywhere from 3-4' deep, but it was nominally only about 12-24" deep along the majority of the route.

My buddy and I are both running 37" KO2's and we traded off breaking trail all day long. Didn't run into anyone else until we were headed down the other side toward Blue Lake, which is where we stopped for a late lunch before heading back down and home.

That's how you do it! Did you keep an eye on your temps? I had to clean my grill frequently last year. We had a big wind storm and many of the local roads are blocked, so I didn't even bother going to look for snow. I think we only have a foot or so over here.

Yeah that wind storm Friday night was crazy, lots and lots of damage around here, too. Spent most of the day Saturday logging around our neighborhood, but got enough done to reward myself with a trip to the hills Sunday :ROFLMAO:

Trans temp was up to 225*F a few times but never saw anything above that, and oil temp hovered around 215-217*F when we were pushing hard. The "water temp" meter never moved and I didn't even bother looking through the screens to see if there was an actual water temp reading since nothing else was getting out of hand. There were a few times I could definitely smell hot exhaust/turbo though

Thanks for the tip! I was going to try Yakima Rim, but Darland Mountain looks way better. Will have to check it out! Got my first windshield rock chip last Saturday (2 weeks post delivery) on the way to my office after logging my own neighborhood, too. A little Honda 30' ahead kicked it up on a city street going about 30. TINK! Dead center in the forehead. Chip was fixed today, so have to go celebrate!

Love snow wheeling, super jealous!
I'm interested in doing some snow wheeling! It's fun on the streets up here but it would be better on a trail. I will look into it to see if there are any year round trails. Maybe we can get some Sac Bronco's up here.

looks like a blast!! And, it's good to see someone using the K02's in snow.. I've been considering them to replace the stock sasquatch tires, but I keep getting people saying they are terrible in snow - you sure didn't look like you had a problem!

What were you running for tire pressures? Any negatives for snow wheeling?

I don’t have my bronco yet but snow wheeling is one of the things I’m most excited about. Living vicariously through others trying to keep the stoke alive.

Great pics and thanks for sharing. We are starting to get some significant snow fall in the CA Sierras so looking forward to getting my Bronco in the snow.
