Yep, sorry. I realized that when I compared the 6006 to 6007. Where am I gonna find this serial # without climbing in?! I'm 100% sure this is the serial number that the tech used to decode production date to the 125th day of 2021, though.

No that is the serial number... It's an older (and cheaper engine on the Ford Parts sites) $5k vs $5.5k, I am willing to bet that there are some minor engineering changes from the older to the newer.

MB3Z-6006-A <- Probably pre-production
vs
MB3Z-6007-AA <- our original part numbers
vs
MB3Z-6007-B <- later part number from what I can tell or perhaps an interchange part
MB3Z-6007-C <- later part number from what I can tell or perhaps an interchange part

Maybe @flip can shed some light on these numbers and my confusion. I am really new to this whole Ford/Bronco culture.... so I feel like a blind man poking around. I really don't know because I can't get access like a tech or dealer.

I have learned a little bit on my own, enough to be dangerous, naturally.

Decoding Ford Part Numbers 101 (and possibly wrong):

Ford Bronco 2.7L Issue ford-part-numbers

MB3Z-6007-AA
MB3 = 2021 Bronco
Z = Parts Dept Order
6006/6007 - engine
AA - Major Revision 1, Minor Revision 1

Perhaps A is a 2.7 (MB3Z-6007-A) and B is a 2.3 (MB3Z-6007-B)

You can read more here: https://m.roadkillcustoms.com/decode-ford-part-numbers/

Anyway, I asked if he had heard anything through the grapevine as to what is happening with these select few 2.7L engines dropping valves (I've read at least 8 stories of this happening). I know that this isn't a huge number by any means in the world of statistical significance. He told me that he wouldn't be surprised to hear that Ford puts out something soon about it.
I believe the Bronco I had at the off-roadeo suffered the same thing. It died 100 yards into the trails (really just a dirt road at that point). I was in 4L, no stress on the engine and it made a horrible clanging sound for about a second and died. Had to get towed out. This was probably a pre-prod model with about 400 miles on it.

It's funny, until it happens to me in the next two weeks when my Bronco arrives... I will bet money on it throwing a valve early in life.

And another eco boom. Really hate to see this given my build date with the 2.7 is 11/15.

Was there ever a range established with the bad #'s/dates?
