Today I found out that when the drivers door is open if you open and close the passenger door it will honk. WTF.

I was ready to delete via forscan until my fob slipped out of jacket pocket and I didn't know! 2x! Now I don't know what to do. A chirp or beep would suffice. I don't put fob in that jacket pocket anymore!

The double beep is too much. I jumped out to throw away trash from my lunch and the guy backing out next to me slammed the brakes so hard his wife almost went through the windshield. It should have been a beep from something other than full horn blast. Yes, I get it, the vehicle is running and I got out with the key in my pocket. Our Lexus uses a little alarm chirp-chirp for this purpose. I want the horse neigh horn just for this purpose.

Also, if you are running a keypad, throw the keys in the console and just run off the keypad. I’m waiting till my first oil change to get it installed (requires dealer BCM 32 digit install) and it can’t come soon enough.

Not quite sure why you don't just disable it with Forscan. Invest the $50 in an OBD scanner, set up Forscan, take the two minutes to turn off and Bob's your uncle.

That's illegal in a lot of states to reduce auto theft. A lot of cars get stolen when people warm them up in the morning before work.

Can you name a single state where it is illegal (with a reference)?

Since I have the numeric keypad, I lock the doors even when the key is in it. I can't remember if I get the double honk when it's running at that point or not, but I definitely do if I hit the lock button and just shut the door as opposed to closing the door and hitting the two keys on the keypad to lock it.

It illegal here in Colorado. More specifically in Denver; it's calling the "No Puffing" law.

So if you want to warm it up enough to not have a frosted over windshield, you have to sit in it for five minutes until it warms up enough? When it's zero degrees out, and the Bronco has sat outside all night, it needs a few minutes early in the morning before I can see clearly enough to drive safely. I can't imagine Idaho passing a law like that.

Leave one key fob inside and lock with the other until you come back. Other than disabling with Forscan that's the only way.

The actual reason for the double honk is because once “ push button” start systems became the norm, folks not used to this were getting out of their vehicles and not realizing it was still running. I realize that sounds crazy, however elderly folks especially were subject to leaving their vehicles while running. Once us geezers die off……..well.

Easily disabled in ForScan. Worth getting an adapter to do it.

I realize that sounds crazy, however elderly folks especially were subject to leaving their vehicles while running. Once us geezers die off……..well.

True however the foreign cars, such as Toyota and Subaru, use a much more agreeable electronic tone and not the main horn blaring.

Guy I worked with did leave his push button truck run all day so yes, it does happen. He was a little hard of hearing. Had no idea till the next shift came in and ask him why his truck was running..
