So after having the same nice long wait that many of you have had, I finally caved in and changed my order to a soft top. Ford gave me time to think, and that I did.

I figured if I was going to change to a soft top I might as well take care of anything else that I was on the fence about. That lead me down a rabbit hole and now I've done a complete 180 on my build. Went from a heavily constrained Wildtrak hardtop down to a pretty plain Jane mansquatch Big Bend. Best part of the decision was while on the phone with my dealer I was told my new build combined w/ my early timestamp should get the truck to me much much sooner. I know the implications of "my dealer said", but it's still nice to hear it from them.

Anybody else make the convert to a soft top, if so was it worth it? If anyone made the change and pulled constraints, did you receive a build date quick afterwards?

Not looking for a crystal ball with my build date, just looking to see what other's experiences have been.
What took you so long ???????? I caved a long time ago! My Badland soft top comes in Jan 1st !! I also got right back in line and ordered me a Badlands 2 door!! Now I wait for the Bronco I wanted while I have this Bronco to play with! When my 2 door gets here I think I might be able to make a profit off the one I'm getting in Jan.

The amount of production they have done so far, with soft tops making up 10-20% of orders, will be insignificant by June, when everyone wants a soft top.

What have they produced so far, 50k Broncos? With 10%-20% being soft top? Thats literally 5k-10k Broncos with a soft top, and I suspect the majority of buyers wanted the soft top all along.

Who knows what is in demand in 2-3 years after 500k Broncos have been produced? Once Ford puts out the painted hard top, everyone that wants a hard top will probably want that over a MIC anyhow. It will be built better, quieter, and probably look a lot better. You might see MIC owners selling their MIC top to buy the painted top.
More than 50% of the Broncos being produced right now are soft.

Are you sure about that number? I had heard 10-20%. Either way, once MIC catches up, you are going to see the to date production completely dwarfed pretty quickly. Just think, at least 4x as many Broncos that are currently built will exist by this time next year.

Switched from a 2 door hard top Badlands to a 4 door soft top black diamond. Should've probably switched to a Big Bend but oh well. Don't have expectations for getting anything at this point.

I certainly don't know more than anyone on here, but if I just use my dealership as a litmus, the last 12 they have had scheduled this month and last were a 7 soft top to 5 hard top mix.

I did the same thing. Switched to soft top and Big Bend and got scheduled 8 weeks later. Don't regret my decision AT ALL.

Yup! After seeing pics and reading about all the water leaks, gaps, etc, I decided to make the switch. Still sticking with my Sas'd Badlands though. Already have new wheels and tires waiting in the garage.

Yeah, thats unfortunately far too small of a sample size to draw much of a conclusion. Especially when all the MIC production this month was going to dirt mountain and not new orders.

This was kind of my thinking too. Especially with the hard top prep kit being thrown on now as well.

Meanwhile if I ever really get the itch I'll either trade the bronco years from now, or pick up a beat snake skin MIC 2.0 while the forum is arguing about whether MIC 6.0 or 6.1 is better :ROFLMAO:
“Enjoy your floppy boat canvas” they say smugly as they silently pray their poorly built, hastily updated, still leaky sheddy rattling, hopefully third times the charm, have to leave 1/3 of at home to bring friends MIC 2.0 is one of the good ones 😂

Ford seems to be getting a handle on the hard top production, so I don’t see that being constrained much longer. I say stick with the hard top if that’s what you REALLY want.

I switched to a soft top when I converted to MY22. Got scheduled on 10/28 originally for 12/20 build and an currently bumped to 1/03.

Had been hoping for April with MIC. So far, no regrets.
@knownhuman - I have almost the exact same build - with actually less constraints, the exact same reservation date, and I switched to a soft top along time ago and DO NOT have a build date yet. Dealer allocation and the orders in front of me is obviously at play here. But I can't complain. I'm only like 300+ days waiting.

I dunno, from what I'm reading, people are very unhappy with the saggy window soft top. I know that you want yours sooner and it's nice to unlatch and toss back the front, but this is a big sacrifice. Add to that the HUGE expense of getting a replacement Hard Top. As for me, I'm glad I held out. Even with all the MIC issues going around, they pale in comparison with what I'm hearing about the softy. Good Luck!
You can’t get a soft top for the 2 door anyway.

That's pretty crazy.

Honestly, my dealer didn't call me to convert to a 22. I went ahead and used the Build+Price tool and submitted through there. When the dealer reached out, I said I was already a 21 and needed to update.

I suspect that the salesmen there might not have been reaching out to the MY21s as my salesguy was shocked that I got slotted.

I did. I feel lucky that I have space in my garage for it and I will be keeping my truck too so that I can drive it when I want.
