The trailer brake controller is not included anyways. Look at the fine print lol
Yes. I know. If you read my post I’m replying to someone who mentioned Ford will offer one as an accessory, or I can install my own.

I just priced out installing a hitch at UHAUL in Salt Lake City.
on a 2021 Bronco sport. The on line quote is for a "Class III" hitch with. 2inch reciever. Parts total is $274. Install with UHAUL warranty is $447. Savings of about 150 from Ford.

That being said, I am getting the factory tow package from ford. Their warranty, already complete day 1, no headache and time needed from me.

Now why does their class III hitch state 3,500lbs when class III is 6,000lbs? The sport has like 2,200lb tow rating so you would think they would install a class II.

maybe you selected class III but still don’t understand why Uhaul’s rating is 3,500lbs.

Figured this would be helpful to add here. It does seem to make sense that a simple solution for a greater towing rating is to add after market class III or IV hitch to the snatch ring mounting locations.

But it's less stable of a mounting point than where the outer two snatch rings are mounted. There's more resistance to twisting the further away from the center, so a hitch that mounts at points further apart will be better.

I feel that the aftermarket will quickly have a Class III or IV Hitch for the Bronco and it' will be an easy install. Just remove the bolts holding on the two snatch rings, sandwich the hitch between the snatch rings and frame, reinstall bolts.... done!

Edited to add...... A WDH that's mounted to the snatch ring locations would also strengthen the rear frame.

All I did was put in year, make, and model and it auto populated that. Not sure why there's says class III with max at 3500 lbs. I figured they put that there as to keep in line with what Ford states as max towing for legal reasons. I have no idea what the actual tow rating is for the sport. I was mostly doing this just to get a general understanding of actual cost for parts and labor in the aftermarket world.

Yeah quick search on ford’s towing selector for the sport states 2,200lbs. So who knows at this point.

$300 isn't throwaway change in my world (even on a $50k vehicle) if it means an hour of my time in the driveway on a creeper with a torque wrench. When I went into the dealer to spec my rig (haven't made it "official" yet), the tow package didn't even appear on the list (even though I selected it), which made me wonder if it's a dealer-installed pre-delivery part.
I understand completely. There are some jobs that you do yourself to save money, some you do because you can and enjoy working on your rig. The opposite is also true, you don't want the aggravation or it isn't worth it. The hitch assembly for Bronco is similar to what is used on the Wrangler and it can be had for about $100. On my DIY scale it appears to be about a 2 or 3 for hitch and lights. Trailer brake and related is outside of my knowledge base. I am having it done with my build because I have other things I'd rather be doing. I think you can go for it and save $300-$500 easily.

Rule of thumb... add +1,500 lbs to the load you are towing and hope that number is 80% of the vehicle’s towing capacity

600 bucks seems kinda cheap compared to the accessories involved afterwards.

Last question before I place my order (Black Diamond) this week: is the common consensus that the Towing Capability is not worth the $600 asking price as it is merely a hitch and a wiring harness? No transmission cooler/etc. that you may get with other vehicles' tow packages?
Having a tow package 100% worth it. $600? Absolutely not. It truly is just a reciever and wiring harness which you can get for $200 aftermarket, and it is not hard at all to install yourself.

It's a 2" receiver so it's a class III hitch. There's a lot more that goes into a vehicles tow rating than the hitch strength. A class III will take up to 8000lbs towing weight. I'd venture an occasional recovery from it would be fine at 10k.
Can you provide a reference for that? That would be an extreme departure from pretty standardized class system for hitches.
There's a big difference between the hitch rating and the vehicle tow rating. But I really don't care enough to convince you of that so feel free to believe whatever you like. ✌
Legit question.

Is your position that because it’s a 2”, the Ford equipped receiver on the Bronco is a Class III?

And there’s no way it’s just a Class II receiver with a 2” like is found on the Wrangler?

Because that’s a bold and significant claim.

The question is do we get trailer sway control with the tow package. If yes it’s well worth it.

I ordered it because wired from the factory and ready to roll is what I want. For reference went after market for the wife’s suv, they did a great job but it still wasn’t factory.

Congratulations on ordering, it’s a great feeling when you get the email from Ford acknowledging the order.
Trailer Sway Control is standard on all trims. Not tied to tow package.

Even Base has it (which can’t even be optioned with tow from the factory).

Rear factory recovery loops, one one each side frame.

Interestingly, that is where some Ranger Class III hitches bolt on.

Seems like that combination could, maybe, possibly, support a 5,000 lbs tow rating [INSERT LEGAL DISCLAIMER HERE]. The structural stress on the frame rails vs the crossmember should be much better.

Coming soon, the all new, upgraded tow rating for the 2022 Bronco. :ROFLMAO:

That feels like belt and suspenders on fitted pants right there.
