What would I be losing by switching from 2.7 to 2.3 motor?

Eventually everything needs repair.

2.3 has 30 to 50 percent less things to go wrong with it than the 2.7. Priced a turbo lately? The 2.7 has twice as many as the 2.3. The list goes on and on.

If you're not keeping it past the warranty, then who cares, except the next guy who might not want to buy those problems.

dude...it's not insulting women...it's insulting men who drive automatics as this is the natural order of things. Autos are for the ladyfolk or for guys who need to use eyelash curlers while driving.
Ah.... so you are confirming your position as that women are naturally inferior to men so that equating a particular man to a woman is a grave insult. Got it.

One question, as it is not clear from your statement; are men who use eyelash curlers equal to those inferior women-types or do they slot above or under them? I really need to make a chart to keep the rules straight.

Is that sound real? Or is it piped in over the stereo?
It is fake engine noise sent through the speakers. Truth is the EB 2.7 has a natural sound that would make baby Jesus vomit.

Not much unless - you plan to run heavy 35" wheels, live at a high altitude, and tow frequently.

I like to think of what I'll be gaining... should I ever get my 2 door Basesquash.

- my old Renegade and current Fiat 124 has a 1.4L that puts out about 160hp.
- My CJ-7 had an Iron Duke that put out about 85hp 125 ft/lbs
- My YJ had 123hp and about 140 ft/lbs
- My 80's Cherokee 105hp and 135 ft/lbs

That 2.3 is going to be just fine considering everything I put these vehicles through... also, the Bronco has broken the spell Jeep had over me.

I had the opportunity to test drive the 2.3, but still went with the 2.7 after comparing 'engine notes.' I acknowledge, this isn't an intelligent reason to choose an engine, but the 2.3 does sound like a 4 cylinder, compared to the 2.7's throatiness - which to me sounds a bit more like a V8 through my cabin. Most people won't care or notice, and the power felt very comparable under normal driving conditions.

On a side note, I've noticed a lot of online reviews of the 2.3 still sound very comparable to the 2.7 with the throatiness. That wasn't the case in my experience with the test drive.
Almost all of that sound is coming from the speakers though, Ford is the Indianapolis Colts of the auto makers lol

Also if you go with the 2.3 and later decide you really wish you had more power, youā€™ll likely be able to buy a Ford Performance tune with warranty. I believe their tune for the Ranger makes an additional 25 horsepower and 40 lb-ft torque
Yes - this is what I did to my 2021 Tremor. Love the extra torque on the low end. Part of me is tempted as I would love the manual tranny.

Every 2.7 isnā€™t going to blow and besides itā€™s under warranty, if your scared buy a dog.
Iā€™m not scaredā€¦. I donā€™t have a 2.7. Iā€™ve got the reliable engine. šŸ˜
