I’m not a hippie nor do my values align with hippie values. How about the Bronco nod? It’s subtle yet I still direct acknowledgment of the fellowship of bronco. Owner’s.

I have settled on a wave to a fellow Bronco (and Bronco Sport) driver. If a Jeep goes by, I don't wave...unless they wave first.

I do the “tie rod nod.” No eye contact. Instead, look down at the other driver’s tie rods and give a nod if they are still intact.
I’ve had tons of success with this. I’ve made no eye contact with dozens of Bronco owners, and I assume they have made no eye contact with me. It’s really catching on!

Hmmm... I get the wave haters!!! IMO it's a situation thing not a commitment. Sometimes a nod, a point and sometimes nothing.
