I've been a silent reader here trying to puzzle pieces to have an estimate on my bronco delivery. Today I received a call from my dealer with bad news. I was told that I would have to drop something like 6 out of the 7 options I added on my outer banks:
2.7 L
Tow hitch
Sasquatch
Hard Top
and so on....
Which I know will delay the process. However, I was informed this time it will most probably hit 2023 due to supply chain issues. I appreciate the honesty of my dealership. I'm just curious. Anyone else receiving these calls lately?
FWIW, I was *JUST* told this by my dealer on Wednesday 2/3. She said I'd be converted to a MY'23: Ford told them to expect 75 filled orders coming in 22, and her dealership had 400 orders to fill (and I wasn't particularly high up in line)

But then *on FRIDAY* (literally 2 days later) I got an email from Ford (and immediately thereafter from the dealer) that gave me a VIN.

4dr OBX
2.3 / auto
modular bumper
aux switches
soft top
roast/black leather
high package.

So I'm not sure what you should expect, but I had a very sudden turn of fate that I (and the dealer) can't seem to explain.

Whats the diff between a hardtop and the MIC ??
They are both hard tops , keep reading though ...

Painted to match the vehicle, a contrasting color or white (throwback to originals)...
Wrong, they are both hard tops.
The painted version WAS refered to as the MODULAR top, Mod top, or painted Modular top, body color painted hard top, etc etc ... but I far as I can recall, was only offered in Black for that short while.
Either way, it was ALWAYS a MODULAR (Mod) TOP.

All of those are hard tops also. (just me being a smartass)

Ask them, that's how they put it out there on B & P... Trying to make thing clearer for the newer posters, you know, contributing to the board...
Right now the only hard top option is the MIC, so it's perfectly fine to refer to the MIC as the hard top.
Later, hopefully we get the Mod top option back.

In the mean time your confusing the fuck out of every one by saying the MIC is not the hard top.

The correct response is "The MIC is not the Mod Top."

I hope you like my contribution to the board.
😁 😉

If your order gets accepted by Ford does that mean dealer had allocation? Or does allocation come into play in getting a build scheduled?
For an order to be selected, a dealer has to have
  • A buildable build with little or no constraints
  • Allocations
Without those two that particular dealer will be passed by during that weeks selection process.

More proof that most dealers don't have a clue and just spout out speculations.

Ok so getting this first email doesn’t necessarily mean dealer has allocation?

Nope. That just means your order was submitted. That's why some dealers have 500 orders but only 50 allocations.

Really the only process to understand is order and wait. There is zero rhyme nor reason to how orders are being selected anymore. The only thing you really need to know is if your dealer has a high number of orders and a low number of allocations, it is going to be a long wait. The only thing that changes that variable is orders with constraint items vs ones with none.

I have a similar order. Cactus Grey, Outer Banks, MIC Hard Top, 2.7, Sasquatch, with Hitch Mid-October Reservation. I ordered the day orders opened in January of 2021. Updated the order in October of 2021 when the 22 Models changed the options. Have no idea when I will see my Scheduled Production/VIN. Sad part is, I just left the lot and saw one very similar being transferred from My Dealer in GA down to Florida. Outerbanks, Cactus Grey, MIC Top, Sasquatch, with the exact leather seats. The only thing different was it had a 2.3 and no hitch. Hope this was a pre-sale, otherwise I would have hoped the dealer would have called me and offered it to me to see if I had an interest. Probably didn't either because it was presold, or they were able to get a premium on it.

Not sure to this day why a Hitch can be slowing down deliveries. That seems a lot less complex to manufacture and install than many of the other components. Would also think that if the 2.7 motor is the same motor in the Larger Ford truck, they would have expedited resolving this issue as well.

Will admit, with an reservation that will be approaching 2 years in the fall, I honestly am not sure I will be able to wait much longer. I am driving a 19 year old Ford Truck. They won't last forever. Sooner or later, I will be forced to make a decision. Good Luck with yours. I'm starting to lose the excitement. I can find a lot of options for > $60k.

Concerning that no one on here has reported that they have a dealer that will swap their reservation for a Raptor at MSRP. All reported at 5 figure ADM....
“My dealer said” that if I got chosen by ford to be switched to a Raptor they will honor MSRP agreement. If I (or someone) order one of their allotments all bets are off.

What I was told back in October... and yet my order is on ice mountain right now. You never know.

Have you confirmed this w/a Ford Bronco Specialist? I’d call the hotline.
Also, did you already resubmit your MY22?
Yeah, I did resubmit my MY22 and receive the confirmation email back in Nov 2, 2021. I'll ask a specialist. Thanks for the advice!

I would dump the tow (you can get a hitch any time and you probably don't need the brake controller wiring)...MIC and SAS I would keep also because it seems that those commodities are not as dire as others.....If you have a 2Dr on order I strongly advise rethinking the 2.7 vs the 2.3. I attended the Off Roadeo late last year and drove a 2Dr SAS with the 2.3 all day and was VERY impressed with the power and torque....went everywhere up and down the rocks with the 2.7s all day. This site has awesome research done on the 2.3L in it.....That's my 2 cents....and, BTW I am putting my money where my mouth is because I have ordered and OBX also and I made these changes myself....
Thanks so much for the advice! Any recommendation 4DR? 2.7 or 2.3?

My base Bronco 2-door with SAS and 3-pedals was initially scheduled to be built in January. I have bumped 2x already. Here is my latest Ford e-mail…

THE PRODUCTION DATE FOR YOUR VEHICLE HAS CHANGED.
Dear……

We have made an adjustment to the production date for your 2022 Bronco™ Base.

Your vehicle is now scheduled to be built the week of April 25, 2022. We will continue to keep you informed regarding your vehicle's production status.

Thank you.

The two vehicles weigh within 200 pounds of each other so I'm sure the 2.3 has plenty but it won't be a hot rod like the 2.7. The 2.7 is a great engine also - this is actually the 2.0 version of the engine and it has some great updates....they had one on a stand at the Off Roadeo and it look great. Only drawbacks are some issues with a few (<35) catastrophic failures (does not scare me considering how many are in service) and the fact that the 2.7 is a constrained commodity at this point.

Please look at the readings on the 2.3 and 27 that are in this forum - some really great tech stuff to help you.
