How much MPG are we going to get out of this vehicle? is it going to be basically exactly the same as the wrangler despite better engines? Or is it going to be significantly better (20mpg city)

(update)

mike says estimate should be around when sale date is

Speaking from experience I averaged 22/26 in my 4x4 F-150 with the 2.7. No reason the Bronco shouldn't do that or better. In contrast my past Wrangler and current Grand Cherokee with the 3.6 Pentastar slug I'm lucky to get 18/21.

this is good news

so we have to break down the math

what is the weight difference between your f150 and the bronco

and what is the potential aerodynamic differences. Pickups suprisingly , despite their bed , are aerodynamic due to a vortex that develops behind the cab

whats the gear ratio in the 150 ?

the base vehicle here is 3.73 and goes up to 4.7 in a squatch/wildtrak

2.3 or 2.7 and gear ratio/tire size all comes into play

id like to see some mpg numbers posted for base and wildtrak, then interpolate the in betweens

im not generally talking about the different wheel packages. They will have an effect for sure. But will it be greater than the weight/aerodynamics/engine question?

Still has the aerodynamics of a brick. Large heavy tires.

Match F150 or Ranger if we're lucky.
wonder if anybody on the forum has one of those 3d modeling programs that does aerodynamics

im sure there is a model of a bronco floating around

According to another post, the Bronco is not as aerodynamic as a lobster. So all you need to do is figure out what kind of MPG you would get in a lobster and the Bronco will be worse than that.
True, but the hydrodynamics of a lobster and their ability to generate lift when swimming is an engineering marvel.
