I heard the F 150 weighs 6500? and the Bronco closer to 4000. Wouldn't the lighter weight truck with the same motor have better milage?
The weight difference is closer as the Bronco weighs in the low to mid 4,000 lb range and the F-150 in the mid 4,000 to mid 5,000 lb range.

Yeah, I learned a long time ago to just put more gas in when it starts to get empty and don't worry about the mileage. I enjoy things more that way.
Finally somebody gets it.

Plus if it's like any other ecoboost engine they'll pull timing to account for the "regular" gas the cheapskate will use.

Politics are why Calif has the highest gas prices in the nation....not just the formulated gas, but the highest gas taxes that help subsidize high speed rail to nowhere that is nowhere close to being financially feasible to build. That aside, my 1970 Bronco got 10 mpg in the city and 15 highway, so whatever the new Bronco gets is superior to my old Bronco
I love the 1970 Bronco! Me and you probably wouldn't get along talking politics but who cares about that with Broncos to talk about:) Hope to see you out on the CA trails.

Wait...do these ecoboost engines call for premium octane gasoline?

this is good news

so we have to break down the math

what is the weight difference between your f150 and the bronco

and what is the potential aerodynamic differences. Pickups suprisingly , despite their bed , are aerodynamic due to a vortex that develops behind the cab
That is your 2.7. Check the Ranger for the 2.3.

Only 87 but they do prefer premium. I was running my Ranger with 87 for a while then switched to 91 and it runs so much better and the mpg went up a little too. Once I tuned it with a 91-93 Livernois performance tune it went up about 1-2 mpg. Also have a 2.5" RC level with 265/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Of course the more you're into the boost the worse it gets...It's either Eco or Boost, you can't have both. ?

All Rangers are 2.3L 10-speeds. Ranger gets 18.5 mixed per Fuelly. 2.3 Bronco is heavier, presents a frontal area the size of New Jersey, has the same transmission gearing, larger (also likely heavier tires) and substantially lower gears even accouting for the tire diameter differences muting the ratio at the tire edge.

18 mixed will be the real life MPG if you treat it decently. The EPA fantasy will be 5 MPG higher.

2.7 will be about the same, maybe.

I get an average of 16 on my F150 Fx4 Supercrew 3.5 TT Rosch Level 2 kit rolling on Mickey Thompson ATZs 33.3 x 11.3s at over a mile in elevation. On long highway trips I can pull 20-21 MPG.

?? You're both off, or maybe apples and oranges. 4 Dr bronco is over 5k, F-150 is 6k. Friends with the 3.2 gets 19 overall.

One thing to consider is rolling resistance. ATs will impact the mileage and MTs will impact it even more. Some are posting MPGs on street tires which have less resistance.

Check each of the vehicle specs again , as you are thinking GVW not unladen Weight......the GVW of a 2021 F-150 goes from 6,100 to just over 7,000 lbs. the GVW of a Bronco is under 6,000 lbs, but taking in its 1,370 lb load capacity, puts it in the low to upper 4,000 lb unladen weight area
Bronco Estimated base curb weights (lbs.)*
2.3L EcoBoost® (Manual/Automatic) 4319/4339 - 4957/4977 4499/4509 - 4997/5226
2.7L EcoBoost® 4491 - 5129 4661 - 5320
