1. You guys are funny comparing your base squatches to Rubicons. Your base (non squatch) is pretty much a sport wrangler. Install some lockers on that sport, wheels/tires, skids plates of your choice and then it’ll be your base squatch.
2. Does death wobble happen in wranglers, sure, but as a jeep owner for 8yrs, I can say Ive never once had it and my LJ is far from stock. I install quality parts and all the work myself even down to something ad simple as my own alignments.
3. Just wait till you guys get your Fords. I love my f150, but the last visit to the dealership for warranty items had a list of 18 things and some of those it was 2nd or 3rd visit for.
4. Ford better not release a v8 bronco until they fix their other dang problems right now. How about finish the crap you started baiting us with before jumping onto something new. Its like Ford has ADHD or something.

i think competition is good. I have 2 jeeps in my garage and a ford outside, the bronco will be replacing one jeep but not both.

But lets be real guys...some of us cant even order PPF or hard top sound deadening with the 2.7 or FE guys cant even get the tow hitch due to gvwr issues so how would ford be able to drop in a heavier engine? You can have the bigger v8 engine but we’re only putting a solo seat inside the cab to limit passenger weight.

It’s pretty cool! Sort of a half SRT. I was wondering about the axles. The Dana 44s are pretty stout. This has to be $65k? It makes for one heck of a stock Jeep. I assume they don’t go to 35” tires due to handling/rollover issues? Makes sense to keep it safe, people will do their own 35” tires.

Lifted Rubicon usually off-road.

Undecided
But they stuck with 3.73 gear ratio and 33” tires? Even if peeps want to add bigger tires they will be looking at a regear. Add another $5500 to that mod after purchase.

At least they nailed the interior right on the first try. I’m shocked they only dropped 33s and not 35s, maybe weight concerns?

Is this enough to steal Bronco reservations, maybe. Will I consider switching, maybe. Can’t wait to see this reveal today.

The warthog needs to come ASAP!!!

But does that engine need deeper gears w/ the 8speed? For example, the rubicon typically comes with 4.10s with the 3.6 but on the the gladiator rubicon ecodiesel 3.0 comes with 3.73 gears and the 8speed and its good for up to 37s without regearing.

It’ll be more than $65k. The ecodiesel is a $4500 option and with that diesel and specs the same its $63k.

Do Rubicons normally come with the Dana 44 front? if it's motor and axle, plus the other needed upgrades, mabe $70K? Diesel pricing is weird to me. It seems like it is always the difference in cost over 150K miles between gas, diesel and the expected difference in mileage. Total cost of ownership usually take more than 150k miles to materialize. I wonder what the actual fuel economy will be? All of the Dodge v-8s I have been involved with were shockingly bad on fuel.

Yes, dana 44s are standard both front/rear on rubicons.

Ecodiesels get mid 20s to upper 20s. Had one in the wife's grand Cherokee. I didn't buy it for fuel savings, I bought it for the power & torque. I'd guess this 392 wrangler would get 13-15mpg before any further mods.

Anybody see the spark plugs ?
I know you’re kidding, but the spark plugs on the 2.7 are stupid easy. It’s hard to show but here’s the driver’s side plug holes compared to the dip stick. Compared to the plugs I helped pull on an overturned Jeep a few months back... piece of cake.

I wonder if the higher gear ratios had durability problems? I know once you get into the 4.10 range the overall durability of the gears isn't as good. I imagine they broke some stuff with that motor! The 8sp and all that 392 torque gives some added flexibility gearing wise too I am sure.

In one of the threads about this thing a few months back, that was discussed. The taller gears are slightly stronger themselves, but on top of that it means less wheel torque. Combine that with the 2.72:1 T-case, cut timing in 1st gear, and stronger axles and it should be a bit harder to completely destroy your shit.

It’s still gonna happen though especially once people get a tuner that removes the 1st gear detune, throw 40’s on it, atlas 5:1 T-case, and put 5.13’s in the axles.
