Speaking as someone who used to haul gas as I can tell you many times regular found it's way in to premium storage tanks and vice versa. Usually by accident but sometimes on purpose. High end stuff like Amoco ultimate is the same as Circle K cheap stuff only with an additive you can buy at Autozone and put in your self for much less money.

I’m sure 85 would work just fine too.
The Owners Manual Supplement "recommends" 87, unless using it off roading or towing, then 91+.

Thank you for posting!
Long ago, my father (long deceased) had preached to me about octane levels and constant & long term use of high octane on a truck would harm or shorten the life span. He had worked his whole life at the Ford Transmission plant in Livonia.
I'm no mechanic, but something about burn level?

Wasn't sure if that still held true.

Was this picture taken at Christmas or do you still have your Christmas lights and decorations up?
It's cold in MN in the winter and or maybe Im lazy in the winter. Either way it is winter and they all come down when it is warmer. This week it should hit 50 and they will all be gone.

$85 to fill up the other day but I'm still sticking with premium (93, locally).
I am afraid to get below 1/2 a tank so my fill ups have bee right around 50$ each time.

Back in the day when engine control management was setting timing after changing points and rotor and only changed due to wear of distributor shaft and burning of points then your dad was inking correctly that you run the lowest octane that does not cause knock as otherwise you raise temps with no corresponding power output.

But with anti-knock sensors and smart ecm adjusting timing several times a cycle you can (and I do ) run the highest octane available for the highest sustainable power

As far as cost of fuel, do not think in absolutes but in differences between grades. Suppose 87 is $5.00 and 89 is $5.20, 91 $5.40 and 93 $5.60, even at a 60 cents difference between lowest and highest grades to fill a 20 gallon tank at 60 cents diff is $12.00, yes a lot but if you are only comparing 2 adjacent octanes at 20 cents, that's $4/tank, sure still a lot but but @ 360 miles/tank is just over a penny a mile. And you can save that $4 buy forgoing one Starbucks per tankful

I will be running 93, but that's only because 93 at Costco is cheaper than 87 everywhere else. If the gas prices keep going up, I'll have to use 87, which is still under $3 a gallon at Costco.
These are funny to read today.

91– Yaa the current prices are a bit extreme but I didn’t buy this rolling brick to pinch pennies on fuel. I save a bit of cost on oil changes.. found a good price and change it myself. Feels good to learn new skills and wrench on things.

I filled up mine for the first time a week or two ago.

Couldn't figure out how to get the damn door open.

I damn near ripped the door off and realized "Something ain't right" here... I am going to break this ...

So I did what everyone does to get through life these days.

I humbly pulled out my phone , Googled it, and watched a 45 second Youtube video to learn that you push the door open instead of pull the door open.

===Seems Legit...
