It explains what was wrong in the picture I posted. They could get away with just a short block replacement, but with how few are probably affected, it’s probably easier to just rectify the situation by replacing the whole engine for customer satisfaction.
Thanks! I'll admit that I didn't read the whole thing before posting....

Very small build window for Bronco luckily, so I doubt very many are affected at all, but just thought I would share anyway.

Not all vehicles within the build date will have the recall. So hopefully yours isn’t affected.

Mine was built a day or two before this window checked the Vin and no recall- doesn't give me the best feeling after the manual Transmission noises/tsb

I understand what you mean. But the manual transmission debacle is quite a bit different then this issue.
The manual transmission seems like a design/parts problem.
This was just a tooling error that was rectified pretty quickly it seems.

How are the 2.3's doing this year with the turbo waste-gate ?
Last year we saw a lot of failures and turbo replacements

Any tips on keeping them in good order ?
I haven’t heard or seen any failures recently, so I think the failure they were having has been resolved, but not 100% sure.
There really isn’t anything you can do to prevent a failure of them.

'Full engine replacement'. What do you think was found that would warrant the entire engine to be replaced, and not just parts of the engine, even if its the entire short block assembly?
A good question. I’d be sure Ford has done an economic analysis on this or is proceeding based on past experience. A short block replacement at a dealership is probably 10X in dealer labor cost as opposed to the dealer labor to replace an engine. Also, there’s would be increased risk of future failures due to a multitude of potential assembly issues. I don’t believe there are too many of us who would be happy buying a new car with a ”rebuilt” engine even if it was fully warranted.

My private mechanic said, “Use fully synthetic oil”.

Well dang. Mine was started on Dec 2nd, build date Dec 3rd... Was up there a while before shipping, wonder if they fixed it or checked it.
I'd be curious to know if they're referring to the engine build date or the vehicle build date. Those are not the same. Fingers crossed for you on that one.

The return of the Exploder 😯
It’s been back, this generation has been a mess. It’s bad enough that they bastardized the ST name with it, but at least they could put some QC into it.

What is turbo waste gate is I may ask? I am looking into Broncos as my next vehicle and will most likely get the 2.3 turbo. Should I be concerned about longevity?
