Ive never considered having on board air compressor but toying with the idea of having one and tying it in to the accessory switch. Where do people typically mount these? In the engine bay? Under the car some year? Real estate in the back?
Thoughts?
Not much room under this hood! I've seen one that was installed, on a YouTube video (somewhere) on a new Bronco. It was mounted behind the rear seat, vertically on the side panel, on the hinge side of the Bronco.

The one I saw installed, was a NICE LOOKING ARB (double) unit.

I have the single ARB in a box. It is quick and fantastic. I can use it any any vehicle or situation. I also have the ARB deflators.

Although, I would like to permanently mount a dual in the Bronco if possible...

I have a VIAIR onboard system. The tank and compressor are mounted under the truck. It was a bit of a PITA to get everything mounted and wires run but for the amount of use I get out of it, it is well worth it. I will probably will do the same for the Bronco.

FYI, I own one of these and think this will prevent me from wanting to increase the price of my rig.

I had a long conversation with my friend over the weekend. He's always hated waiting around to air up. He's actually looking into a 4 tire air up solution. The JL has a couple different custom fitted options to add the compressor and line runs to have a hookup at each tire (because of course the JL has the option).

I'm contemplating DIYing something similar. But it's going to come down to available space. I'm not willing to give up my cargo area for a compressor setup.

I may have to settle for an auto shutoff model, mounted underneath, under hood, or in the underfloor storage, so I don't have to be keeping an eye on the gauge all the time.

You don’t get to have onboard air (For now). You called it a car, you will loose your man card for 24 hrs.

Its a truck or a rig. Your choice. Jk. :)

As someone who airs up 6 oversize tires quite often and when the trailer isn't connected, then obviously 4 tires, I found my via 400p auto is way too slow and I waste too much time that adds up. Ive decided to go with the ARB twin compressor kit that is portable (since I have 3 offroad vehicles, 2 of those are/will be tow vehicles) so a permanent mounted solution won't work.

I use this with great results you can turn it up to seat a bead or run air tools 20 bucks to fill.

Yeah I have a 10lb co2 setup as well but then again sucks having to drive to fill it up and needs to be hard mounted and Im not installing mounts in 3 vehicles. The jeep is the only one with a bracket mounted on the rollbar which works except when the dogs are in the back.

Yup i have the mount in the jeep on the rollbar twisted for max clearance ,but throw it in back of truck to do work sometimes the handle protects the guages and im just extra careful.
