Why is ford recommending that we over inflate our tires.

You don't raise PSi for less load. It's all related to heat buildup in the tires.
I can see your logic there. As internet engineers we are taught that more air = more load.

But we also know that real engineers have determined that the max load air pressure on these tires can be exceeded as long as you aren't running max load.

I ran them at 38-39 the first month. Lowered to 35 the next. Like it much better at 35. Thinking about going down to 32.

No idea, but might the recommended PSI also be linked to the bronco ground clearance that Ford publishes?

Read the tire sidewall. It says up to 10 psi additional inflation pressure permitted.

I only run 39 for road trips strictly for better fuel economy. Usually keep them at 33-35 psi.

On the inflation note… is everyone’s tire pressure reading in the dash accurate with the actual pressure in the tires?

My dash reads about 5 psi higher than the actual tire.

Tire pressure will increase by 4-5 lbs when the car is driven / the tires are warmed up. So if you are measuring at the tire and then looking at the gauge after you've been driving, that would explain the difference. Or your own gauge may be bad.

Geez.
I run my BL stock BFG KO2'S at 40 psi and I don't give a d@mn what the sidewall or the sticker in the door jamb says (I can't read it anymore anyways because I run doors off as much as possible and the sun has faded it to the point of being unreadable). It rides a little rough, but then again I don't let little environmental things like too bumpy, too cold, too hot, too loud (the folks that say the BLINKER of all things is too loud make me want to vomit) bother me.
Some folks WAY over analyze stuff.
