they arent rating offroad performance SUVs, just road cars.
by this standard, bronco is definitely low on the list.

Like it or not Nissan has done a lot of things well, especially with their most modern iterations of their top selling lines. The Pathfinder has long been a fierce competitor in its segment, the price point is more than competitive, and the Nissan warranty is nearly unmatched.CR is good for some things and not so great for others. Overall they’ve lost some credibility for me over the past few years. The Murano and Blazer are in the top 3? Really?
They do okay with rating appliances though.
This! The vehicles at the top of the list are purchased by people who eagerly await the cold embrace of death and endeavor to make your life as miserable as they've made theirs.
Many of us, in polite company, refer to them as "yes, dear..."
It's like the TireRack testing of all terrain tires. Extremely road biased opinions that aren't relevant for your Bronco's time off the beaten path. Great for selecting tires for our Tiguan though.A lot of truth to the above (and I am a subscriber!)
Look, CR has some value for certain things and its a useful publication. But their auto "ratings" are on criteria that matter to those that buy Camrys and Subarus (again, we have a Subaru!). If someone is buying a 4 door Bronco as a substitute for a Honda Odyssey for a family's only vehicle, they are probably making a bad choice...Most of us buying these understand what we are buying (fun, capability, probably good resale value, and lets, be honest, unbelievable coolness) and what we are not getting in terms of daily drive refinement, economy and potential reliability.
Love the old Pathfinders, however Nissan went the route of the new Chevy Blazer in the design department, neither can touch the Bronco's design elements.Like it or not Nissan has done a lot of things well, especially with their most modern iterations of their top selling lines. Why are 4x4's supposed to be built so poorly that they need their own category?I think CR needs a new category for Broncos and Jeep like vehicles. Lumping them in with SUV's no longer makes sense. SUV's have become modern station wagons with AWD and some luxury, and you sit a bit higher.
I guess for 2021-2022 Kia/Hyundai quality, CR is fine with their vehicles, as the affected ones are older models.I wonder how CR feels about Kia/Hyundai quality, seeing as they are recalling 480K vehicles for a very dangerous electrical short. So dangerous, they’re advising those who have a potentially impacted vehicle to not drive it AT ALL!
No, I just think what SUV's used to be 30 years ago, does not apply anymore. Why are 4x4's supposed to be built so poorly that they need their own category?
