The sold my truck from underneath me. Now what?!

Summer 2020- I was stoked when the bronco was announced. I wasn’t a day 1 reservation guy, but after some time to mull it over, put on in late august or early September.
it was rad- just what a wanted. A hardtop badlands with the 2.7, Sasquatch and luxes out for the comforts of long trips.

Fast forward to 2023 after 3 total orders (2 to change year) I get the text. My truck is delivered and I can come pick it up. To my misfortune, I just left the country for work, 2 days before the text came through. I let the sales guy know I was out of the country and the exact day I would be back and at the dealership to get my bronco. He said he would have management call about the bronco “policy” to which I was ready for. The call didn’t happen because they were “too busy”. I was told they would reach out later, but never heard another word.

Fast forward one more time to today- I get to the dealer ship and am informed that my bronco was sold because I didn’t put down a deposit and that it’s a “misunderstanding”.

I’m pretty aggravated at the lack of communication. I could have made arrangements. What do I do now?

There's a green 4dr manual badlands sitting in the showroom of my local dealer in SE Iowa. No ADM as far as I know. It would be a solid drive home, but it'd be a one day trip. High pkg though, not lux.

Well that should affect their allocations. When I bought my Bronco the dealership said I had to take the order or I would need to sign a paper releasing the order to them so they could sell it. I’d raise a stink to Ford.

Last time I heard that, there were no customers in the dealership while the entire sales team was too distracted playing angry birds on their phones.

Name the dealer.

Wow, sorry to hear this. Has it ever been such a shit show just to order/purchase a vehicle as this. Unbelievable. The purchase process needs a major overhaul.

So, were there any further attempts to contact them over the next 3 weeks (2/27 -3/17)? If not, that seems to be how they got away with it. Some of these dealerships only need a halfway plausible excuse and they’ll run with it.

Not surprised. I had inquired about a Bronco they had last year.

That experience was unpleasant. The only unpleasant experience I had out of about a dozen different Ford dealers while I was searching for a Bronco.

I would be talking to an attorney and get some severe compensation. I am so sorry to hear that. You can be guaranteed that they sold it out from under you!
