Nice to learn about the cause of the valve failures. I'm glad we have regulators and bureaucrats, you know, government institutions, that look out for consumers.
Toyota and Honda have done far more for improving vehicle reliability than any government agency. The valve issue is a real issue and Ford was on it right away, but the vast majority of these NHTSA recalls are like the Bronco seatbelt recall which is totally insane. The issue they say is its too hard to buckle causing people not to buckle up. I tired various seat positions, and if anything its easier than any other vehicle I've owned. Yeah right, our tax dollars at work.

yeah, I've gotten that recall notice twice including yesterday. It goes straight to trash. I did get one for my 2016 Fusion daily driver a couple days ago for brake hoses and I can't even get the service dept to answer the phone to even schedule that one. It's about to go in trash too

But its not like Toyota has the sterling reputation its had in the past with its quality-they've had their own issues with different things and part of the reason they had that reputation was they didn't change much each model year. They are just skating along on their past loreals imo.
Maybe they aren't at the cutting edge but if that means better reliability and quality I'm all for it. They still have a great reputation, and most everyone I know who owns a Toyota or Honda will not buy anything else. Ford and the so called Big 3 would be well advised to make quality and reliability their number one goal. I have purchased from the Big 3 in the past because I wanted to buy "American". Not anymore! Honestly with Ford and GM pushing political agendas and the insane UAW demands, I would rather take my business elsewhere. That said I like my Bronco, but next time I'm going to go with the best value and quality, and that probably won't be a Ford or GM.

They won't buy anything else till their transmission (Honda) or Engine (Toyota) blows up. But they'll just play stupid because they think they own a superior product that might not actually be.

In the grand scheme of things the difference between what was the Big 3 and Imports isn't as big as people make it out to be. Just the Japanese are operating on past performances and they do silent recalls through a customer service process vs having the NTSB issuing them.

@mpeugeot has like 80K on his. Not sure how close it is to the bad dates but it should be in the thick of it.

@j_marinelli has one around then as well.

Just trying to help.
Yes, there are a lot of high mileage rigs in the danger zone for bad valves but obviously not all of the valves used during that period are bad. Don't know if they use more than one supplier or if it was one batch of valves. From what I have seen on this forum and in the report above, all of the VALVE FAILURES occurred at low miles. Those with high miles and no failure should be good to go.

It really looks like if you have one of those motors from 2021 and 2022 that if the engine hasn't grenaded itself yet, it will right about that time you decide to finally put the hammer down and pass those semi's on the highway.

I imagine right when I am in the middle of a river crossing. Has anyone seen an vin number checks we can use for comparison to see who is in the clear?
I don't remember the dates but it is in a previous thread, it is not by vin but by the julian date on the engine oil filler tube.

Part of the problem is that they are required to respond to any complaints. So, for both the valve issue, and the seatbelt issue enough complaints were received for them to open an investigation. Those complaints could have little or no merit, but the investigation will still happen. Keep in mind that there are plenty of people (and you see some of them here on this forum) that will complain about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. That doesn't mean there's a problem, just a lot of complaints. The valve issue was real. Emphasis on the WAS. Ford identified it and made changes (it says that in the article). However, the "noise" level about it continues to this very day. I see posts all over the place asking if the 2.7 has reliability/value issues all the time, and the problem was resolved nearly 2 years ago.
